Pure Propaganda? Chavez "funding" FARC...

The International Herald Tribune has a story about a dead Colombian FARC leader's laptop... does this has Zarqawi written all over it or not?

BOGOTA, Colombia: Colombia's police chief said Monday that documents recovered from a slain rebel leader's computer reveal financial ties between Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Colombia's largest guerrilla group, including a recent message that mentions US$300 million in Venezuelan support for the rebels...

Another document found in the laptop belonging to slain rebel leader Raul Reyes suggests financial ties between Chavez and the rebels dating back to 1992, Naranjo said. At the time, Chavez was jailed in Venezuela for leading a coup attempt, and was plotting the comeback that eventually led to his election as president in 1998.

Chavez and  Colombian president Alvaro Uribe clearly don't like each other, but I can't believe there'd be financial ties when Chavez was in prison.

I can't believe that  $300 million would not make rebels be able to use gold-plated weapons.

I can't believe that the coincidences between this "find" and the similar finds with Zarqawi's laptop are mere coincidences.

So, the question is, is this propaganda made to justify yet another wider escalation in the war on control of oil "terror?"

I guess the answer will be known soon...
